Several clinical trials reveal the positive effects of combined supplemental calcium and vitamin D for bone health. Vitamin D is important for its ability to promote intestinal calcium and phosphorous absorption, reduce urinary calcium loss and enhance healthy bone composition. In a large trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine involving over 3,000 women, supplementation with calcium and vitamin D daily for one and a half years supported bone composition of the femur. In another study, calcium and vitamin D supplementation promoted calcium utilization and maintained healthy bones in postmenopausal women. Calcium citrate malate combined with vitamin D moderated the rate of bone loss for a separate group of postmenopausal women, maintaining support for the spine. Calcium and vitamin D also play roles in cardiovascular and colon health.*

Calcium Citrate-Malate, the highly absorbable form of calcium w/o additives Love that they are pure and Calcium citrate-malate, which is a highly absorbable form of calcium, and I can get 900 mg of calcium by taking 6 tablets. The clear capsules also do not cause any irritation when I swallow them. This has been a problem with other capsules I’ve tried. When you have a health issue requiring 900 mg, you just have to accept that the absorbable forms of calcium are bulky and you will need to swallow more pills to reach your goal.¬†

Expensive but clean I buy as many of my supplements from Pure Encapsulations as possible, because there aren’t any fillers or additives. Unfortunately, this makes them quite a bit more expensive since a lot of those additives help speed up the manufacturing process. I’m totally OK with spending more on health than, say, clothes, but it really adds up at times. Hopefully when I’m 80 and still active and happy, I won’t care how much I paid back in the day for supplements. The great news about the Calcium w/Vit D…

Pure Calcium with Vit D3 Although the capsules are fairly large, they are pretty easy to swallow..However my only fault is you have to take 6 capsules to get the 900 mg. of calcium. I also thought that older adults should be taking 1200 mg daily? It would be even more capsules to make that up.As far as the quality of this product is excellent, without fillers or other things in it…just the calcium and Vit D3.
